Get the Look: Country Home

By Darlings Of Chelsea

For a cosy, traditional look that is timelessly stylish, you can’t go wrong with an English Country Home design scheme. Full of classic charm and creating a warm, homely feel, it’s a great design scheme for your home. Here’s a few things to consider when trying to achieve this look:

Touches of Rustic

Similar to Rustic design schemes, natural materials such as wood, stone, leather and wool are often seen, evoking the countryside that the style takes it inspiration from. Country home features and furniture will also display traditional detailing and style.

Earthy Tones

Again, taking its cues from the great outdoors, the colour palette for this look is full of natural, earthy hues and tones. Autumnal shades of brown and red mixed in with darker, woody greens should definitely be considered.

Elegant but Homely

This look involves a mix of traditional designs and detailing with touches of rustic sparseness and simplicity. Floral patterns, ornate detailing and high-quality materials will all feature but these elements will have a feel of simple sophistication, to create a refined, but not overwhelming opulent atmosphere.

Classic furniture

Chesterfields, such as our Cairness sofa, are a great choice for a country home design scheme. If fabric is more your thing, you want to look for a sofa featuring classic detailing like rolled arms or low English roll arms, wooden feet and perhaps hand-buttoning and piping detail.

Traditional tartans and checks, florals and Persian rugs are all great patterns to include in this style of interior, whether that’s through curtains, wallpaper, cushions or accessories. Just be careful to space your patterns well and not to overdo it, so they don’t overwhelm the space.
