Which Rugs Suit Which Floors Best?

By Darlings Of Chelsea

Rugs are a great way of adding style and warmth to a space. And with the range of styles, colours and materials out there, they are incredibly versatile. So no matter what type of flooring you have, they will be a rug to suit it. Here’s our tips for choosing the best rug for your type of floor:

Natural Wood

For natural wood floors, it’s important to choose a rug with colours that won’t bleed into your floor, so they don’t stain it. You might also want to consider a rug with the same material on the front and back, such as a wool or cotton design. Our Plantation Greyscale rugs are a good choice, adding warmth and style whilst protecting the floor.

Laminate

Laminate floors are very versatile, so you have a wide range of rugs that would work on a laminate floor, however you’ll want to avoid rubber, latex-backed or vinyl-backed rugs as these can permanently stain your floor. Laminate flooring is a great base for displaying a creative and colourful design.

Stone

With Stone flooring being seen as having a cold, hard look and feel to it, you want to choose a rug that will soften that appearance and be comforting underfoot. Staying with natural materials is also a good call, as this will complement the look of your floor, so something like our 100% wool Oceans Rugs from our Plantation Rugs collection is a great choice.

Tile

Tiles can also have an issue with feeling cold underfoot, so something warm and inviting can really help. A rug like our luscious Maltino Rug will add a soft, plush look and feel to the space.

Carpet

Some people don’t like the rug-on-carpet look, but with the right rug it can be really great and help to keep a carpet and the room it’s in a little cleaner. Something lightweight and, yes, easy to clean is a good choice.
