We have 5 shops and are expanding. We are on hand to help face to face with pre and after sales queries. Many of our customers are often popping in to see the long standing members of staff who served them.
We are specialists in our sector. We live and breathe sofas – the leather, the fabric, the build, the comfort. This expertise helps us to help you find your perfect sofas but also means we have expertise in sourcing new exciting ranges that are bang on trend. We even send our staff to the tanneries to see how the leather is made.
We excel in Customer Service and have won 2 awards to prove it. Best Customer service 2012 at the Brilliant Business Awards and Best Customer Focus 2012 at The Best Business awards.
Most of our sofas are made using hardwood frames (Beech or Birch) using skilled craftsmen with many years experience.
Most of what we sell is made here in England. Our sofas are never sourced from China.
We recycle as much as we can, from manufacturing through to retail. We also support the Woodland Trust.
We stock high quality brands like Duresta and others. They don’t just work with anyone! And we are certainly cheaper than Harrods. In addition, we work with the top fabric houses such as Designers Guild, Romo, Linwood... we even have some gorgeous Ralph Lauren books.
High back, low back, deep, curved - we have a very broad range to suit many budgets and tastes.
We do offer customisation on many of our ranges – talk to us and we will do all we can help.
We can take your old furniture away, if you are local we do visits to your home to help you choose the right style for you (Fulham shop only at present).
|All our sofas are hand made by skilled craftsmen with many years experience.||Many other sofa manufacturers automate a large amount of the processes using machines which can often lead to faults that go undetected.|
|Manufactured in UK (except our Italia and Designer Collection) therefore undergone strictest UK quality control checks - All products surpass UK Fire and Safety Standards (Crib 3).||Sofas are often imported from abroad to take advantage of cheap labour and materials which again is reflected in the quality.|
|Genuine leather used throughout the WHOLE sofa including the seats, back and sides.||Some companies use split or artificial leather for the backs and sides of the sofa to save costs.|
|Hardwood Frames - Beech or Birch is used for the main weight bearing areas of the frame. This wood is from select hardwood lumbers, all of which have been carefully dried, milled and processed to remove defects, which could cause structural weakness. All corners and structural stress points are reinforced with corner blocks that are firmly glued and stapled in place.||Some companies construct the entire sofa from MDF for example|
|Quicker delivery times (due to being manufactured in the UK - except our Italia and Designer Collection) - typically 4 - 7 weeks.||Because the sofas are often imported you can often be waiting 8-16 weeks, especially if the shipment doesn''t arrive on time from abroad.|
|Professional, experienced delivery service right in to your home and placed in the room of your choice, unpacked carefully and rubbish removed.||Often not offered or the courier service used are not specialist furniture couriers and hence damage can be incurred.|
|Subsidised delivery - We only ask you to contribute £75 towards the delivery of your furniture by our 2 man delivery team, no matter how many items you buy. This is obviously heavily subsidised by Darlings of Chelsea and makes buying your furniture from us cheaper for you.||Other sofa companies will charge typically £50 to £100 to deliver your sofa.|
|Our prices include VAT.||Many companies will add VAT at the point of sale - all our prices include VAT.|
|All Darlings of Chelsea products come with a three year manufacturers and materials defects guarantee. We do give you the option to buy a 5 year warranty to cover staining, accidental and structural damage for total peace of mind.||Often you will have to pay more for a warranty.|
|We use high quality Aniline Leather for our contemporary range. This is a very natural leather showing all the original markings of the hide. The leather is pigmented to bring through the colour and the natural print of the leather is not removed or processed, ensuring that every piece is truly unique. The leather does have an oil based finish which helps absorb minor scratches and acts as a defence by forcing liquid spills to run on the surface instead of soaking straight into the leather.||Many other companies offer sofas that are often made of an inferior leather, such as splits (leather shaved in many thinner layers), artificial or a synthetic leather. We do not use such leather on any part of our sofas, the same quality leather that is used on the seats is used throughout the furniture.|
|A choice of either foam or fibre top seat cushions is used on contemporary sofas. The foam gives a slightly firmer sit where as the fibre has a more relaxed look and feel. Both are extremely comfortable.||In our experience we find that sofas with just a feather or fibre filled cushion often require ''puffing up'' almost weekly as the seat remains sunken after being sat on. The foam in our sofas helps.|
|High tensile Serpentine springs or Zig Zag springs form the base of the sofas. The Chesterfields also have sprung backs.||Often Chesterfields are made without the support of a sprung back, also many sofa bases are made of rubber webbing, which over time loses its elastication and sags. Some furniture is still made with a foam base pad and soft cushions are used to discuse the lack of support.|
|Solid Wooded Bun or square feet||Hollow feet shells with a concealed plastic / metal support.|
|Detachable, zipped seat and back cushions which means the sofa can be cleaned easier and that the interiors can be replaced in time if required (although this is very unlikely).||It is common that cushions are non removable and attached to the sofa which makes it harder to move around but also is harder to clean and maintain. Also, in time we have seen the stitching come away.|
|The Chesterfield range is made using superior European hides and the same quality grain leather is used throughout the sofa. Individual hand pleating, studding and antiquing add character to the furniture. After the furniture has been upholstered the leather is carefully hand rubbed to create the antique finish you see. The antique leather starts as the darker colour, but in areas that have been antiqued this top coat is removed to bring through the true colour of the leather, and it is this process that creates the antique effect in the furniture. After carefully antiquing the furniture with your choice of finish (max, standard or minimum rub) the leather is then sealed to protect the appearance, and giving a beautiful mellow sheen.||Some sofas are often not sealed which means that the leather can become torn and stained quickly. Also, the special antiquing process is not undertaken therefore not giving your Chsterfield the beautiful classic look that is associated with such furniture.|
