It’s Autumn, which means spending more time at home as we try to see out the harsh weather we can generally expect from the next few months. So you’ll want your space to be as snug and cosy looking as possible. The Rustic look is the perfect design scheme for this time of year, where hibernating seems like the only option (not that we British like to get melodramatic or anything…). Here’s a few suggestions for how to achieve this super-snug look:<\/p>\n

Bring Nature Inside<\/h2>\n

The Rustic look comes from traditional building and design, as such\u00a0this kind of scheme features mainly natural materials such as wood, stone, wool and fur (though you may wish to opt for faux fur these days).\u00a0This can include a lot of dark woods and materials, so to lighten things up go for a neutral colour palette for the walls.<\/p>\n

Think Old-World Cosy!<\/h2>\n

Whilst this look has a lot in common with Industrial design schemes, this has a cosier, older feel. Although you can mix in modern elements – rules are made to be broken after all – in order to achieve a truly ‘rustic’ look, think cosy wood cabin or traditional french country kitchen for that snug ‘stepped-back-time’ feeling. A leather Chesterfield sofa, like our Cairness<\/a>\u00a0or Woodford<\/a> sofas would work really well in this kind of space.<\/p>\n

Rough and Ready Rustic<\/h2>\n

Less clean lines, and more natural, unvarnished edges. Whilst less sleek and neat than modern design aesthetics, the softer, unpolished look is more relaxed and helps give a space a more homey feel, making it particularly great for a family or country home where the days are spent out in the fresh air, enjoying all the natural world has to offer and appreciative of coming home to a warm, comfy living room and gathering around a fire with some hot chocolate!<\/p>\n
