How to Throw a Frighteningly Good Halloween Party

By Darlings Of Chelsea

Halloween, just around the corner, but remember, it isn’t just for the kids! With the ever-enchanting All Hallows Eve falling on a Saturday this year, why not let your hair down with a spell-binding, spooky Halloween party. We have a few tricks (and treats!) for throwing a great, boo-tastic bash.

Devilish Decorations

Black and orange, candles and cobwebs are the go-to decorations for a Halloween party, so naturally you’ll want to make use of them – last year we put together a few suggestions for decorations which will give you some great starting points, but to take things one step further for your party, go with a theme such as a mad professor’s lab or a haunted forest.

Creepy Costumes

Obviously, you have your witches, ghosts and skeletons. Zombies are very in right now, and fairly easy to dress up as – a little make-up to give you that ‘dead’ look, torn clothes, a little fake blood from being bitten. But if you want to go for something more contemporary and fun, think about what really scares you – tax returns. Dress as an accountant! Spoilers from your favourite TV show? Go as a Dead Jon Snow! Technical difficulties? Paint a ‘loading circle’ on your t-shirt!

Tasty Treats

No tricks, just treats! Get creative with your party food – try banana ghosts, spider chocolate truffles, ‘death-by-chocolate’ grave cupcakes, chocolate and caramel dipped apples coated in nuts and sprinkles to look like worms and creepy crawlies.

What would Halloween be without pumpkin carving? But why not make a bit of a competition out it, see not just who can carve the best, but who can come up with the most elaborate, skillfully-designed pumpkin creation?

What would a party be without a fab playlist?! Old favourites like Timewarp from The Rocky Horror Picture Show, Pet Sematary by The Ramones, and Thriller by Michael Jackson, should definitely be included. But you can also mix in a few more modern tracks like The Monster by Eminem ft Rihanna, Seven Devils by Florence and the Machine and Marilyn Manson’s vampish version of Tainted Love.
