Vase Styled by Sugar & Cloth
Photography by Mary Cost Photography

Glass vases are so 2015, wow your family and friends with these 5 unique vase alternatives sure to be a great conversation starter and very easy to make yourself on a budget.

1. The Pineapple

Perfect for those warm summer nights in the garden with friends, fairy lights and fresh cocktails. Simply hollow out a fresh pineapple and fill with a bright bouquet of Banksia, Ranunculus, Eremurus and Sweet Pea. Make a few for your table and use the remaining fruit to make some yummy Pineapple Margaritas

2. The Lemon

This one you can do yourself by placing a smaller vase inside another, fill the gap (should be 1/2 inch) with cut fruit and fill the gaps with water.
Place your arrangement inside the smaller vase. We are loving this Sunflower and Lemon combo to add a bold splash of summer yellow to your room.

3. The Pumpkin

Perfect for the upcoming season, this pumpkin vase is a striking way to snazz up your Autumn decorating. This vase is super easy to make yourself on a budget, simply cut a pumpkin open around the halfway mark and scoop out the seeds, replace the 'lid' and begin inserting your choice of small bright flowers such as marigolds.

4. The Cabbage

Have a dinner party coming up and looking for a way to wow your guests? Try this quirky idea, designed by a Dutch couple, the center of each cabbage has been hollowed out and filled with a small glass vase. Try this yourself and fill with contrasting flowers, mix it up by using a combination of red and white cabbages of different sizes then arrange them together in groups three.

5. The Welly Boot

Have your kids outgrown their boots which are just too cute to throw away? Re-purpose those jellies into the sweetest little flower pots. Use florist water tubes to keep the flowers fresh, try using tulips or daffodils for their long stems and bright color. Match your flowers to your boots for a fun, bright bouquet, guaranteed to make you smile.
