Gorgeous Living Rooms to Inspire You in 2015

Are you thinking of redecorating or restyling your living room this year? It can be difficult to know where to begin. However we’d like to suggest taking a closer look at what has worked for other people. Maybe some of these superb living rooms will inspire you to achieve something special in your home too.

A sparkling barn conversion

Barn conversions are often designed to be thoroughly modern. However in this particular instance the feel is of a completely natural and cosy space. The rustic beams and structure of the building has been left largely intact, while a generously-sized brick fireplace draws you in. Natural tones and shades are put to good use with a chunky L-shaped sofa. The splash of red added with some scatter cushions and a vase of tulips provides a bright accent to the look too.

Going retro with a vintage feel

The hole-in-the-wall fireplace, so often a focal point in living rooms, goes almost unnoticed here owing to the large sliding-door cabinet hung on the wall above. This neatly conceals a large-screen TV, perfect for nights snuggled up on the sofa with popcorn, a movie and a loved one. However it also converts this space into a relaxed area thanks to the intelligent use of modern living room furniture.

Contemporary and open plan living rooms

Open plan spaces can leave you feeling unsure of how best to use the space. Two large dark-coloured sofas meet the challenge here, perfectly finished with a large wood burner to one end against the floor-to-ceiling windows. Beyond we can see a dining area with a different colour scheme, yet the contemporary approach to living room décor means one space seamlessly flows into another. An outdoor space is easily accessible too, giving the illusion of an even larger living room space than is actually the case.

A barn renovation with a minimalist touch

Among the more popular living room ideas many people are opting for nowadays is the minimalist look. It can be difficult to pull off but it’s been done in style here. Oversized floor tiles allow one large area to flow into the next. In addition a large casual L-shaped sofa looks positively cosy, especially when completed with a novel (and one would assume heavy) coffee table. This is a stained and polished chunk out of a huge tree. Quite the conversation piece!

Formal yet comforting

Some people are attracted to living room décor ideas that allow the space to look more formal and yet still welcoming. This has been achieved with this stunning living room makeover, using a variety of natural tones to provide a calm space to relax in. An oversized sofa is complemented by two large chairs of a different yet complementary style, and a huge rug provides a soft feel underfoot. The mirrors enlarge the space further and the black and white print in a similarly-coloured frame sits well with the black and white fireplace beneath.
