Bring Luxury into the Least Expected Corners of your Home

By Darlings Of Chelsea

We spend a lot of time trying to create a sanctuary in our homes. From cosy, inviting living rooms to social, welcoming kitchens, there is a real focus on making these rooms the best they can be. And it makes sense to do so, given we spend a lot of time in these rooms. But what about the other rooms in your house, such as your:

.Utility room.

.Porch.

.Basement.

.and even your garage?

While you may not sit down to relax in these rooms after a long day, there are plenty of ways to bring limitless luxe into these forgotten rooms, and it doesn’t have to cost the earth. Here’s our guide on how to bring luxury into the least expected corners of your home.

1. Luxury Utility Room

It’s the place where chores happen. It’s not overly glamorous but it’s necessary, so why not bring some colour and personality into this space to make those chores that little bit more enjoyable?

1.The easiest way to invigorate a space is with plants, the more the merrier! Biophilic design can have a positive impact on your health and wellbeing as well as improving the aesthetics of your interiors. Make sure to research the best plants for the conditions in your room and then get to work on creating a tropical haven – it really will make a difference!

2.Think about small upgrades – whether it’s a new light fitting or tap, or even some upgraded coat hooks, just having a few luxe items can really change the aesthetic in your room.

3.Artwork – who said utility rooms needed to be boring? Think of the room as a blank canvas, a place to experiment with art, stepping away from the mainstream and trying out some pictured you’re not sure would work in your living room

2. Luxury Porch

It’s not somewhere anyone spends a particularly lengthy amount of time but why not make that time more enjoyable? Once again, why not bring some greenery into the space – choosing some slightly hardier plants that can handle colder conditions, or if you’re worried that they won’t survive, go for some fake plants that still bring some colour to the space.

Lighting – show us a space that isn’t instantly improved by some mood lighting, it doesn’t exist! Add some fairy lights to your porch and instantly brighten up those dark, rainy nights from the moment you walk through the door. Don’t be afraid to be creative – the options are limitless.

3. Luxury Garage

If your car tends to stay on the drive, your garage is an opportunity to create something special – whether it’s a games room, a cinema room or a gym, the space is there so why not use it?

If you decide to go for a cinema room, add a corner sofa or a recliner sofa like the Orlando so you can fully relax and watch the film in style. Here’s some more ideas on the perfect sofa to create a cinema room experience.

If it’s a games room that you prefer, add one of our chairs to bring some style and then think about lighting, rugs and some artwork that can create your preferred aesthetic.

4. Luxury Kids Room

Luxe and children’s bedrooms don’t always go hand in hand but there are some luxury items that you can add that will create a truly lovely, inviting aesthetic.

Choose a bed frame that will stand the test of time, taking your child from youth into adulthood. Beds such as the Windsor, or a sleigh bed like the Abingdon will appeal to everyone, no matter what their age!

Plants can also have a positive impact in a child’s room. Whether you go for something playful and easy like a cactus or something bigger like a Yucca, share the responsibility of plant care together and enjoy watching it grow.

Rather than going bold and bright throughout, think about using a neutral palette and introducing hints of brighter colours, through cushions, wall décor and perhaps a rug or lampshade. By keeping the walls neutral, it will make it easier to tweak the design as your child grows without having to make major changes every few years.
