It is important to measure your chosen bed and the bedroom thoroughly, before making a purchase. It should leave enough space to walk around and to open any nearby doors or drawers comfortably.
To measure the bed, start at the headboard extending your tape measure to the foot of the frame for length, and measure from side to side for width. If you want to measure the full height of the bed, go from the floor to the top of the headboard.
Measure the distance between the bed and the walls, doors, or any furniture near it, leaving enough room between them. If you are planning to have bedside tables on either side of the bed, measure the space needed for them too.
Are you looking for a bed with pull-out drawers for storage? Don’t forget to account for the extra room required to pull the drawers out. Use the depth of the drawers to measure outwards, from the side of the bed.
